Pink Desire

Site History

THE BEGINNING - PICZO

Well, like many people, I started using Piczo and the site name was just my name. It was just a personal site about me and my friends with lots of glitters and I used a page list aswell.
After a while the site name changed to x-x-amyswebby-x-x.piczo.com, and it was still about me and my friends. But I no longer used a page list and just used normal text links as I saw lots of other people doing that and thought it looked better than a page list. But after a while, I came across sweet-song-16.piczo.com, which had lots of good graphics and used lots of HTML. I then saw other sites like it, and decided that I wanted my site to be like that. So, I started adding visitor content and made by own layouts. But I could only make them on a trial of Paint Shop Pro X, as that's all we had. I was also not very good at making layouts at all, so they weren't of very good quality. But I then discovered we had Macromedia Fireworks 8, which was similar to Paint Shop Pro, so I started using that instead, and this was a proper piece of software, not a trial, so I could use it how much I wanted and I still do now.

THEN - FREEWEBS

I then discovered Freewebs. I saw lots of people had been using it. But I actually found out about it ages ago from a friend and when I made one I didn't use HTML to make it. I just used the non-advanced account. But when I was using Piczo and saw other people's websites that were hosted on Freewebs, I thought about using it myself, as I was getting bored of Piczo and wanted to use HTML properly. So that is when I made a site called freewebs.com/pink--beauty. I am enjoyed making it, and, as well as Fireworks, I started to use Adobe Photoshop CS3, as that is what we now also have on the computer as well as Fireworks. Also, while I was making my piczo site, I discovered vejc.piczo.com, which helped me a lot in making my freewebs site, so thanks Vibeke!
My piczo site still exists now, as I spent a lot of time on making layouts and stuff, and so is my freewebs site, but I don't update either of them anymore.

NOW - AWARDSPACE

I then discovered many sites which used PHP, and this looked better than HTML. Also, I discovered a few people were using Awardspace, which is where you can make a free website using PHP. But I wasn't sure whether to move to Awardspace or not, as I was really enjoying making my freewebs site. So in my blog on my homepage I told everyone to put in my Halsocan comments whether they think I should move to Awardspace or not. I did get a few comments, but I still wasn't sure and stayed with freewebs for a few weeks longer. But I then decided that I wanted to move to Awardspace because you can also use FTP, and I still wanted to have a PHP coded site. So, I signed up to create this site.
Well, this is where I am today, and I am really enjoying making this site and I love web designing. But I would love to get my own domain one day which would be even better. But enjoy this site, as this is the one I have at the moment!

BEHIND THE NAME

Well, it took me a while to think of a name until a thought came into my head that I could have a name to do with the colour pink, as pink is my favourite colour. I then thought about having a name to do with me liking pink, and I thought of pink-passion. But that was already a domain name, so I didn't want to have the same name. So I thought of other words that had the same meaning as passion, and thought of desire. This name was available, so I decided to make a site called pink-desire.awardspace.co.uk.
Hope you like the name!
