I will always miss the pier

Last weekend I went on holiday and had a really great time. I went to Weston-Super-Mare and the pier was brilliant. But I watched the news on Monday morning and I couldn’t believe it. I was just going through the channels on the TV and when I got to Sky News, I saw a pier pavilion up in flames. I thought ‘I recognize that’ and then saw the words ‘Weston Super Mare’ written across the screen. Oh no. The best pier ever (in my opinion) was burning away and I was only there the day before. I am still shocked and really miss it. Although most of the pier is still fine, the pavilion where all the amusements were, the most popular part and where we spent most of our time, was gone. I also found out while watching the news that the pier was taken over by new owners only something like six months ago and already it is gone. I also heard that the new go kart track cost half a million pounds. I am so shocked about it. What makes it worse is that I was really excited about going there again next year; my family were excited too. Even though we can still go, the best part (in my opinion) of the place is burnt and so it will never be as fun as it used to. It was my first time of ever going there too, so even if they rebuild it I will never be able to go to the same arcade again.

Well, I am just going to look to the positive side of things, and look forward to a rebuilt amusement arcade. I hope it will be rebuilt as the main pier isn’t actually too damaged, so it should be easier to build. I heard on the news that the poles holding up the pier are made of iron, which is why the rest of the pier is still standing up. I am so glad that the pier was closed when the fire happened as it was early in the morning, so no one was injured. I would just like to say that even though last weekend was the first time I ever went to the Weston-Super-Mare pier, it will be greatly missed because it has been so far the best pier I have ever been to.

On a happier note, I am making a new layout for my site which I will probably put up in the next few weeks. I am also going on holiday again tomorrow for a week so there won’t be any updates or blog posts for a week at least. Have a nice week!

Edit 18th July 2008: I have made new web icons for you to download. I won’t be making lots and lots more downloads because no one really uses them anymore, but I will make a few more than the current ones!

I went bowling this afternoon with a few friends, and I lost again! I always seem to loose at a game of bowling, however hard I try. It was fun though, because as I have a few months off it is good meeting up with friends regularly. I love having the time away from education too, it just feels so exciting knowing I don’t have to go to bed really early and then get up really early the next morning.

I am really pleased with my new WordPress theme, thank you for the nice comments! I hope to keep it up for a while, maybe a month or two.

I really enjoy playing The Sims 2 on my Playstation 2. But what I don’t like about it is the fact that you can’t make a family of people with different ages, all you can do is have a group of adults all the same age and have some of them get married. If you know of any tips for the PS2 version of the game feel free to let me know. I really love playing The Sims 2, but having a family on it will make the game even more exciting.

I hope you like the new theme to my site! I have been working on it for a long time now, and I have been really making good use of the WordPress features. The new and improved sidebar, with thanks to Melissa’s tutorial, now changes according to whatever page of the site you are on. This is one feature about my new theme that I really love, so I hope it is of good use to you.

I also have rollovers for the site navigation. They are only simple rollovers, but I will hope to do more interesting ones in the future. I just wanted to start off simply so that the tutorial on how to make the rollovers was easy to understand, as it isn’t completely simple at first.

I have also made the post categories more generic and for more specific topics I have created tags for each blog post. The Archives page is now improved. This is the page where you can view all posts by month, category or tag.

A Gravatar will now show up next to each comment. If you don’t have one, then the default one I have made will appear instead. There are also clickable smilies with the comment form that you can insert into your form. The pink similes are made by me

I have also got a new Guestbook which is powered by BellaBook and my ask and answer page should look better in Internet Explorer as I fixed the coding. That leads me onto say that parts of my theme don’t look as good in Internet Explorer as browsers like FireFox and Flock, but I coded the theme as much as I could to get it looking OK. But if there is anything on my site that is not showing up properly, feel free to contact me and I will try to sort it out.

I think that’s mostly everything, but also I have made some new tutorials and I am still currently making some brand new web icons in replacement to the old icons which I will try to put up soon.

That’s everything about my site, so I will update on what I have been doing over the past week. Well, I have finished school after my exams now, so I am on a really long school holiday Last week I had an induction day at college, which was alright apart from getting lost when going to most of the classrooms (but the teachers helped me find the way so that was fine in the end :D) and I now have a piece of homework to do which is really annoying But I am have already started it and so I will try and finish it by the end of this week.

My dance show is this Friday and Saturday evening. I am really looking forward to it So I probably won’t be blogging or updating after this post until next week some time.

Only a few to go

Edit 19.06.08: My last exam is tomorrow morning, so I should be putting up the new theme very soon! I can’t post a new blog because I need to go and revise now, but I will hopefully blog tomorrow after my exam!

I only have seven more exams left now, so I am so excited! After they have finished I won’t have any more revision for around 12 weeks! I am in the process of making a new layout in between revising, so when my exams are finished I will be uploading my new theme. You can also look forward to new tutorials and downloads that I am making. But most of those will be made when my exams are actually finished, so the new theme won’t be put up straight away. I just can’t wait for all those weeks of free time instead of boring school time! However, I do still miss the fact of going to the school I went to, because I got so used to it. I do still turn up there for exams, but it’s not the same. But I should be positive, so I must look forward to college!

I have realised that my blog posts seem to be quite boring as I seem to just keep talking about my daily routine and site updates rather than my thoughts and opinions. So you can also look forward to new articles and more interesting blog posts on what I believe about different topics. But don’t worry, if I have any site updates I will still post about them, because I obviously want you to know about them! =P I just won’t go on and on about daily routines in the week.

I am also excited for my next dance show which is coming up in a few weeks! I will probably write a blog post when that’s finished about how it all went. However, it is a few weeks after my exams finish, so my site might be closed at that time due to me putting the new theme up. Don’t worry though, it will only be closed while I am changing over my website theme, I will open it again straight after!

OK, I think I should go now before I start making this post boring, so to everyone who is doing exams at the moment, I hope you all do very well and I will probably blog some time in the next week or so!

One of the best times to ever remember

On Wednesday night our school year had our Prom. It was absolutely amazing - we were in this really nice country club. First of all we walked in and there were glasses of orange juice and a lovely balcony outside where we could stand around or sit down. After a short while we were taken upstairs to a dance floor with music and a DJ. There were also tables where we could sit and a buffet at the back. I had an absolutely GREAT time! My friends and I were jumping around on the dance floor to the music and singing along. We also took photos of each other. It was one of the best nights I have ever had with my friends. The teachers were also really nice and had a great time. I think it is one of the greatest ways to remember your time at school. I really wish were still at the country club, I really do miss the evening!

I have now finished school for my exams, my last proper day at school was on Tuesday. The exam I had today was Music - one of the hardest exams I have ever taken. But all I can say is that I did the best I could and that exam is all over now so I can just forget about it. I still won’t be doing any major updates. I probably will just post a blog every couple of weeks so that you know I am still here =P So I hope you all have a nice week, everyone who is doing their exams right now I hope you do well, and everyone who has not had their school Prom yet I hope you have a good time! It is one of the best nights ever to remember!

One year on

I was watching the news yesterday morning and they talked about Madeleine McCann’s disappearance. It has already been one year since, and it must be so horrifying for her family. I really do hope she is found, for the sake or her and her family. There was also on the news a father of a girl who had been missing for a long time and has now been found. From this I hope that the family of Madeleine will hope to be even closer to reuniting with their daughter. I was watching a programme last night all about the disappearance of Madeleine and what has happened in the past year. I was watching Madeleine’s mother talk about when she first noticed her daughter was not in the holiday house. It was really scary just imagining it. I just feel so shocked when I hear of people going missing. But one thing I am happy about is that Madeleine’s family are still looking for her and not giving up.
I prayed for Madeleine last night and her family that she will be found soon and reunited with her family. I just really hope that she will come home soon.

I won’t update much for the next few weeks

Sorry I haven’t updated in ages, but I have had a lot of coursework and German revision to do this week, which is far more important. So I am sorry for not blogging in nearly two weeks, but I just haven’t had the time. There are no updates, I just thought I’d come and tell you why I haven’t posted a blog for a while. There will be no big updates for a while now as I am finishing school in just under 4 weeks for my exams. I got my exam timetable yesterday, and I finish around the end of June which means I will have something like 13 weeks break before I start College I can’t wait for all that nice time with no coursework or revision! I will also hopefully be able to do loads of updates too, so look forward to that. But remember time off school means loads of time spent with my family and friends so I won’t necessarily be updating through out my few months off school.
In a way I will miss school because I am used to the routine and all the teachers and other students around me. But I am looking forward to finally wearing makeup and non uniform every day
Well I better go, I might try and blog every few days or at least once a week, but don’t expect many updates for a month or so. Revision is so important right now so I need to concentrate on that. I have no school tomorrow as it is an inset day, but I am seeing friends so I might not update but you might possibly see a blog from me here tomorrow.

Sorry I suddenly put my site in Maintenance Mode for a few days, I decided I wanted to change it around and add some widgets to the sidebar using WordPress, which means changing my pages so that they are also powered by the blogging tool. I hope you like the widgets on the sidebar. I have also added the tutorials I have been talking about; there are only three there at the moment but if I waited until I had made them all to put them on my site it would have been ages, so you can look at the ones I made so far and over the next few weeks I will add more and more once I have created them. I also hope you like my new layout, it is about dance which is ‘my passion’
Well I need to go now, as I need to go and get dressed before I get on with some more coursework I have so much of it but I am glad with the amount I have completed so far. Also don’t expect many updates next week as I will be revising for my German oral mock, completing any coursework that needs completing and revising for other subjects. But if I get any spare time I will try and blog once or twice at least.

I woke up this morning, went into the bathroom and noticed it was actually snowing outside! I totally wasn’t expecting it, because it is now March so it doesn’t seem likely to snow now. It was really nice, I haven’t seen snow since it last came in February last year! But one problem, it was really cold outside I had to walk home from Church really cold. Getting there was fine though because I got a lift!

I can’t believe I only have about 5 weeks left at school before my exams, I don’t have a long time left to revise! I am excited though to move onto college as it will be a change after having the same school routine for years.

This is quite a random blog as I have talked about different things that don’t really follow on from each other but I just felt like blogging about whatever I could think of So, sitewise, I have started making some new tutorials which I will try and finish as soon as I can. But as my exams are soon, I may not get much time because of revision, even though it is the Easter holidays soon. I also just made a favicon for my site, which is the little image that appears next to a URL address of a site. Just look in the address bar and you will see it, hope you like it!

A bit of a change

I have finally made a new layout, hope you like it! I have tried to make it different to my usual ones, as I got bored of the old style. You might have also noticed at the top of the header there is a little box with a few links in it, which is one part of my new layout. Some of the icons in the box I made and some were downloaded.

I don’t really have much else to say, apart from I might be able to blog and/or update soon because from Friday to Monday I am off school for the Easter weekend. But, it is also likely that I won’t update as my exams are so soon that I will be revising. I also have some last pieces of coursework to finish too.

Have a good Easter weekend, have a good Easter holiday from school and remember when Jesus came back to life!
